It's obvious to me that Digi will bring on enhanced PC versions, and 3rd party support should follow.I think.ġ/ Digi want their product to be as stable as possible, very difficult compared to designing for the Mac for reasons we all know. But I cannot believe this is directed at the Mac user, since as someone has pointed out, they account for a very small percentage of computer users around the world. Pro Tools free is of course an excellent marketing tool. Yet NONE of my students were aware of Pro Tools, not even the FREE version. In other words music written on computers. I teach Music Technology at a College of Further Education, mostly 16-19 year olds, 70% hip-hop, rap, jungle, garage. In my opinion the potential for PT PC is vast. Where it gets really interesting is looking at the Pro Tools FREE! posts. I'm not about to get a calculator going to work it out but anyhow. So the guesstimate(?) that PC users were about 40% of the market was pretty good I'd say. Hard to know how many PC users of Digi 001 versus mac BUT:Īssuming that Mac users are as pro-active as PC users, and therefore post to the DUC, then here are some interesting figures, as of today:
